Giving nonprofits hope and support to continue changing West Virginia communities
Below are a few of our recently funded projects: If you’re interested in having your project highlighted here, please contact us.
Mountaineer Food Bank
Mountaineer Food Bank (MFB), a member of Feeding America, believes in a West Virginia where no one goes to bed hungry…today or tomorrow. The Food Bank is the largest emergency food provider in the state of West Virginia serving families, children, seniors, veterans, and individuals at risk of hunger.
Annually, MFB distributes over 18 million tomeals to food-insecure neighbors in 48 of the 55 counties. We are led by our mission to feed West Virginia’s hungry and empower communities to end hunger.
Over 200,000 individuals in West Virginia are considered food insecure, meaning they lack consistent access to enough nutritious food to fuel a healthy life. To address this issue, Mountaineer Food Bank distributes food and other essentials to those in need through a network of more than 460 community partners. In addition, we also provide programs and services aimed at helping families and individuals at risk of hunger. These programs include the Mobile Pantry Program, Veterans Table Program, Child Hunger Programs, Senior Feeding Programs, Food for Health, and more.

Hunger in West Virginia
Food insecurity refers to USDA’s measure of lack of access, at times, to enough food for an active, healthy life for all household members and limited or uncertain availability of nutritionally adequate foods. Food-insecure households are not necessarily food insecure all the time. Food insecurity may reflect a household’s need to make trade-offs between important basic needs, such as housing or medical bills, and purchasing nutritionally adequate foods.
Children and adults face hunger in every community across the country. Your neighbor, child’s classmate, or even coworker may be struggling to get enough to eat. In West Virginia, 266,370 people are struggling with hunger and of them 73,650 are children

Golden Girl Group Home
Golden Girl changes the lives of our girls every day
Here are just a few comments from our previous residents:
“It was the ‘Last Chance Stop’ for me at Golden Girl. I will never forget the acceptance, direction, and support I received there.” Michaela
“I was finally understood without judgment or pity. Accepted for who I was and taught that the world wasn’t as bad as I had been previously shown. I was given direction and opportunity to grow. Most importantly I was loved.” Alecia
“Only decent part of my childhood was while I was at Golden Girl.” Kimberly
“Golden Girls didn’t only change my life, they saved my life.” Tammy
What Is Golden Girl?
Golden Girl is a group home for teenage girls who have been abused, neglected, orphaned, or for another reason can’t live in their natural home. In addition to providing residential services, we provide Transitional Living (TL) Services to our girls 18-23, who have completed our residential program and need some assistance transitioning to independent living.
A Program Especially For Girls
Our program is designed to meet the girls' needs in an atmosphere in which they feel loved, wanted, valued, and accepted. We work hard to help each girl mature and grow to reach her maximum potential. Golden Girl Group Home provides:
A comfortable, safe, supervised living environment designed to encourage each girl's emotional, moral, social, and physical development.
A program that ensures girls' daily needs are met, including personal hygiene, self-esteem and an overall sense of well-being.
A diverse, highly trained staff who works directly with our residents.
Intensive levels of treatment services, including assessment, treatment planning, case management, supportive counseling, crisis intervention, individual and group psychotherapy, behavior management planning and implementation, and basic living skills.
An outstanding PREPARATION FOR ADULT LIVING PROGRAM (PAL), which bridges the gap from total structure to total independence. When girls reach 18 years old, they move into our transition program, where they receive the necessary training, skills, and support needed to live independent lives.
An exemplary RECREATION, EVENTS, AND ACTIVITIES PROGRAM (REAP), teaching the girls positive, attainable social alternatives. Every facet of the program, from physical fitness through cultural enrichment, teaches the girls in a loving, supportive and stable atmosphere.
Our Mission
To give hope to young girls in our care by counseling, educating, and mentoring them in a safe, nurturing environment
